ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR
-
I'm Scott and I started classes at Karate America when I was seven years old.  I received my black belt in November of 2004 when I was ten years old.  I earned my 2nd degree in May of 2007, my standing rank.  I'm currently a freshman at Marshall High School (GO CARDINALS!) and the only one in school that is still in martial arts.  My plans after high school include a four year college degree to become a biotechnologist.

Why I Started
I started karate because of a demonstration at my school.  After I saw Tyler Hankel and his team, I was utterly amazed and wanted to do it myself.
-
I'm Still Here Because . . .
It just keeps getting better and better.  It keeps me in shape physically and mentally.  After I started, I grew more confidence, courage, and strength which I continue to feed off of every day.  Aside from watching students continue to grow and aspire, the most rewarding part of my experience is the calmness that I portray because I know I can defend myself in the face of danger.
-
Hobbies/Interests
I enjoy listening to music and singing, although I'm not in choir.  I do Science Olympiad and I'm proud to be a national finalist in such.  I'm currently working towards an Eagle Scout and hope to be one by my sophomore year.  I also take every opportunity I can for writing competitions nationwide.  See Photos of my Eagle Project - IN THE WORKS & FINISHED PRODUCT

Advice to Anybody Thinking of Taking Classes
Do it!  It will turn out to be much greater than you could hope to expect.  There is no limit to the human body's capabilities and mind.  If you believe it, you can no doubt achieve it.

Advice to the Novice Martial Artist
Don't forget to have fun!  With so many cool new things, I know it is hard to contain even myself.  Enjoy the voyage and all the bounties it has to offer.

Other Things I'd Like To Share
Along with joining Boy Scouts, this has been the most fulfilling decision I've ever made.  The self-defense makes me feel so comfortable where ever I go.  I always love to teach in fun and realistic ways.  I look at everything as though it is a science itself in which there is always much, much more to learn and share.
