NEWS FROM MASTER KOSTER

Welcome to WARMER WEATHER - hope you are all enjoying spring break and the beautiful weather.  With the new season we will also be making some slight changes in our schedule.  Starting next week (week of April 4th) there are slight changes in the Tuesday and Saturday class schedule.  This was first announced in the March 12th newsletter and is now posted on the class schedule page.

NEW CHECK IN PROCEDURE - Last fall we did a survey and have been working to meet your desires.  As you know, for successful progression students approved for accelerated classes need to be taking a diverse selection of classes, so parents asked for a tracking process which brought in the new attendance cards.  This has worked well for the most part, however, if students forget to move their cards to next class slot if they stay for more than one class, then they may not get a class marked.  So we are tweaking the system and using the process that Grandmaster uses in his school.  Beginning Monday, April 5th, we will have daily sign in sheets.  The instructor or assistant instructor will be checking students in a couple minutes before class starts, so as always you need to be ready to go on the floor five minutes before class starts.

TARDY STUDENTS - This new procedure will also track students that are tardy.  If they are not checked in by classtime you will be marked LATE.  We recognize that students have other commitments and we make allowances for this.  We also know younger students are dependent on their parents for transportation - so parents please be aware of class times and get your kids here ON TIME (meaning at least 5 minutes before class starts).  Habitual tardiness will have a negative impact on your childs record.

DEMO TEAM - Please remember that the Demo Team will begin practicing Tuesday and Saturdays.  The guidelines can be found in the March 12th newsletter.  Must be at least 9 years of age and cleared to participate through Master Koster.  There is a fee associated with this focused class and all equipment is required and a demo uniform to be purchased.  Please let me know ASAP if you'd like to be part of this team.

BLACK BELT TESTING - Will be coming in early summer.  Please stay tuned for more information.

STAFF/LEADERSHIP TEAM - We have a meeting THIS SATURDAY the 3rd of April from 1:15-3:00.  I've only heard from about 10 people - - - if you have not already done so please let me know ASAP whether or not you plan to attend.

NEWS FROM MS. KRAUSER

UNIFORMS & SAFETY   - For personal safety, please be sure that necklaces, bracelets, and dangly earrings are removed prior to class.  These items pose safety risks in all classes. If you have hair that is long enough to be pulled back, please do so.  Please show respect to your peers and keep your hair pulled back in a pony tail.  If you need a hair band please ask as we do have a few on hand.  You are expected to have your hair securely pulled back PRIOR to bowing on the floor.  Your teammates will appreciate your consideration.  Hair in your eyes, or hair going into your partners eyes during drills is a distraction that can result in needless injury.

BOXING GLOVES REQUIRED - Please remember that boxing gloves are now required for all students.  We will be using at time during Kub classes, ABC, pre-accelerated and some of the accelerated classes.  Check with Ms. Krauser to get your gloves ordered ASAP so everyone is prepared for classes.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR GEAR - We are missing a kids black hand target.  Last name of STEVENS is written in gold ink by RevGear tag.  While checking gear please be sure your personal gear is CLEARLY MARKED with gold/silver/white ink.  Marking your gear is required and special pens are available in the KA office.
